Internships at the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce are valuable opportunities for college students and others looking to expand their resumes. As an intern, you will be a part of a professional work environment that will prepare you for a career, and you'll gain a deeper understanding of the South Central Kentucky region. You'll also be able to meet and work with many influential people in this community.
A Chamber intern assists with projects, events, publications and day-to-day Chamber operations. Some examples of intern tasks are
- Helping to plan an economic development announcement ceremony
- Interviewing a local small business and writing an article for the Chamber's newsletter
- Researching other Chambers' events, programs and publications
The Chamber is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Fridays. You may tailor your internship schedule around your school schedule/other commitments. Interns typically spend 15-20 hours at the Chamber each week. Internships usually last for one semester or summer.
Internships, while unpaid, are an investment in your future because of the experiences you will gain at the Chamber.
What helps an intern succeed at the Chamber?
- Willingness to learn and be part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
- Organization & time management skills
- Self-motivation!
