MacDonald & Owen Lumber Company, a hardwood lumber company with locations in Sparta, WI and Brookville, PA, recently acquired Kerr Forest Products, a dry kiln facility in Bowling Green. The company was recently approved for incentives with plans to invest $2,675,000 and create 18 new full-time positions.

MacDonald & Owen offers a product line of more than 20 different species of Kiln Dried lumber and serves customers around the world from Midwestern America to Asia and Europe. They also offer services such as custom drying, planning, sanding, gang ripping, re-sawing and chopping.

The expansion to Bowling Green will allow MacDonald & Owen to expand their product lines to provide for current and future customers. The company is expecting to produce an additional 5 million board feet of hardwood lumber annually focusing on high quality Appalachian Hardwoods such as Poplar, Red Oak, White Oak, Hickory, Cherry and White Ash.

Operation in the facility began immediately following approval of incentives and a ribbon cutting for the facility is being planned for June.
This is the second announcement of 2014 for the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce for a total capital investment of $152,675,000 and the creation of 98 new jobs. This follows a record setting year in 2013 that saw more than $260 million in capital investment and the creation of over 400 new jobs.
