The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off the new year with a notable ranking by Site Selection Magazine, an economic development entity that showcases success in relation to similar communities across the entire U.S.

Among metropolitan areas with populations less than 200,000, the city of Bowling Green this year ranked 4th on Site Selection’s Top 10 Metro Areas for New and Expanded Facilities in 2014. This is Bowling Green’s second consecutive year on this list, climbing from 6th last year to 4th this year. Site Selection bases this ranking on projects that involve a capital investment of at least $1 million, creates at least 50 new jobs or adds at least 20,000 SF of new floor area.

“The Bowling Green area has seen explosive growth in recent years. In 2013 and 2014, we experienced the largest announced capital investment by a new firm in a decade, as well as the largest total announced capital investment for the year in the Commonwealth. Rankings from premier economic development publications such as Site Selection are a testament to what this area has to offer,” stated Tommy Adams, Chamber Board Chairman. “It is truly an honor and we are grateful for the continued support and collaboration we receive from the community that allows us to receive such acknowledgement.”

Site Selection magazine is published by Conway Data, Inc. and is the senior publication in the corporate real estate and economic development fields. Their yearly analyses are regarded by corporate real estate analysts as the “the industry scoreboard.”

These rankings highlight a record-setting year in economic development for the region. In 2014, South Central Kentucky experienced a capital investment of more than $211 million and the creation of over 660 new jobs.

The $155 million announcement of the location of international joint venture Quiver was the largest capital investment for a manufacturing firm in the Commonwealth in 2014 and the largest capital investment in South Central Kentucky in a decade.  This marks the second year in a row that South Central Kentucky has attracted the largest capital investment for manufacturing in the state.

“South Central Kentucky offers a multitude of benefits to companies that are looking to locate or expand their operations. The decision of international companies to establish their headquarters here is one of the many reasons leading publications in the field are now recognizing Bowling Green and South Central Kentucky for their accomplishments,” stated Mayor Bruce Wilkerson.

“Bowling Green and Warren County experience success because of the collaboration that exists in this community,” stated Judge Executive Michael Buchanon. “When you add the partnerships that take place between organizations like the Chamber with local and regional elected officials to the benefits that our region has to offer, there really is no better place to do business. What better way to celebrate than with the recognition of a top national ranking in one of the country’s most highly-regarded economic development publications.”

The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has received recognition from numerous print and online publications in the past including Forbes Magazine, National Geographic Magazine and CNNMoney.com. This is the fifth ranking the Chamber has received from Site Selection since 2005.

“It is an honor to receive such esteemed recognition for our economic development success each year,” stated Ron Bunch, President & CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce. “Not only do we continue to hit the mark that gets us on the same lists each year, but our work with our regional partners continues to grow our regional strength and increase our presence on the national stage. I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson and the City Commission and Warren County Judge Executive Michael Buchanon and the County Magistrates for their continued partnership and support.”
