BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – May 26, 2015 – Today, Kiriu USA Corporation, a manufacturer of automotive brake discs and drums, celebrated the groundbreaking of their new expansion in Bowling Green, Ky.

The expansion project brings $2.1 million in capital investment to South Central Kentucky. The project will add 24,000 square feet, bringing Kiriu USA’s facility on Mitch McConnell Way to more than 140,000 square feet total. The expansion includes additional warehouse space and is expected to be completed in December.

“This is the fourth expansion in our 13-year history,” said Mark Kimura, Kiriu USA president. “Without remarkable support from the local government and community in Warren County and City of Bowling Green, we could not have achieved such fast growth. We’re excited to be growing toward our goal of being the leading brake rotor supplier in North America.”

Kiriu USA, which was founded in 2001, is headquartered in Bowling Green. The company is a subsidiary of Kiriu Corporation, the second largest automotive brake rotor producer in Japan. Kiriu USA is supplying approximately 4.6 million rotors to major automakers, such as Nissan, Honda, General Motors and Subaru. Kiriu USA is part of a large group of Japanese companies – 16 in total – that call South Central Kentucky home.

“Kiriu USA’s expansion here shows just how viable the automotive industry is in Bowling Green,” said Mayor Bruce Wilkerson. “We’re thankful for Kiriu’s support of our community, and are excited to see what’s in store for the future.”

“For more than a decade, Kiriu USA has employed South Central Kentucky residents and showed a commitment to our region’s workforce,” said Mike Buchanon, Warren County Judge-Executive. “Kiriu USA’s continued investment in our community proves we’re a great location for doing business.”

“I would like to extend congratulations to Kiriu USA on their expansion and express how proud we are of the company’s successes,” said Tommy Adams, Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce board chairman. “We’re eager to watch the company expand its facilities and continue to grow in Bowling Green.”

This project is Kiriu USA’s fourth expansion to date at its Bowling Green headquarters, including a $10 million addition which broke ground in 2012.

This marks the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce’s ninth announced project for 2015, bringing a total capital investment of $739,989,600 and 610 new jobs to South Central Kentucky.
