Precision Strip Inc. of Minster, Ohio announced their second Kentucky location in Bowling Green. The Bowling Green location will bring a capital investment of an estimated $15.5 million and will create 15 new jobs.
The new Bowling Green facility will be located in Scotty’s Industrial Park in Northern Warren County. This new facility, with 80,000 square feet and one slitting line, will allow the company to better serve their customers located both within the Kentucky Transpark and in the surrounding South Central Kentucky region.
Precision Strip toll processes, stores, and delivers steel and aluminum to the automotive, appliance, industrial products and beverage can industries. The company has over 1,200 associates at 12 facilities in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama. Facilities include 50 processing lines and more than 3 million square feet of building space.
Precision Strip’s Woodburn, Ky. facility began operations in 1995 and has expanded three times since then. At the Woodburn location, the company currently employs 112 people, and operates five metal processing lines within a 308,000 square foot facility.
Joe Wolf, President of Precision Strip, commented, “The new Precision Strip location in Bowling Green will be a nice complement to our existing operations in Woodburn. It will allow us to add capacity for metals processing in a geographic region that is experiencing healthy growth in the markets we serve. We greatly appreciate the support we received from the Chamber and the state of Kentucky on this project.”
According to Chamber CEO Ron Bunch, “We are delighted to celebrate the expansion of Precision Strip in Warren County. Precision Strip has been a member of our business community and a leader in our automotive landscape for over 20 years. We are thrilled that they have chosen to grow their operations here, and we look forward to continuing to work with them well into the future.”
Precision Strip offers a variety of services related to the toll processing of carbon, stainless steel and aluminum including: slitting, oscillate slitting, multi-blank cut-to-length processing, Class 1 automotive blanking, and coil fed laser blanking.
“Precision Strip’s model of just-in-time delivery makes South Central Kentucky’s location ideal to serve their customers both by rail and highway,” stated Bruce Wilkerson, Mayor of Bowling Green. “Interstate 65 is instrumental in providing arterial access to a variety of automotive, appliance, industrial and beverage can industries – many of which are represented within the South Central Kentucky region. We are delighted that Precision Strip has decided to call Bowling Green home.”
“The addition of a second Precision Strip location in Kentucky is a testament to the strength of the business climate in South Central Kentucky,” said Warren County Judge Executive Michael Buchanon. “We anticipate growth of this facility just as Precision Strip’s original operation in Woodburn has grown to over 100 employees. This truly is a great addition to South Central Kentucky.”
This announcement is the first announcement for South Central Kentucky for 2016. In 2015, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce announced 23 projects, 1,040 new jobs and a total capital investment of over $943.7 million – the largest total announced investment of expansion projects in South Central Kentucky in the last ten years. Warren County finished 2015 with the second, third and tenth largest expansion projects in Kentucky, including both the second largest investment project and second largest job creation project for 2015.
