Awards

The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has been recognized across the nation for its work and impact in the community. In 2009, the Chamber was named Chamber of the Year by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives and has maintained its 5-Star Accreditation from the United States Chamber of Commerce without lapse since 1973. 2017

  • OnTrack program received Excellence in Action award from Advance CTE.

2016

  • Kentucky honored with Silver Shovel award (3 to 5 million population category); South Central Kentucky region was home to three of the top five projects in the state integral to securing this award.
  • Chamber was named finalist for Chamber of the Year by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives.
  • Received Bronze Award for Work Ethic Seal Program by International Economic Development Council.
  • Chamber received Excellence Awards for Outstanding Membership Retention, Outstanding Special Event, Outstanding Publication and Outstanding Website by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives. 
  • Kentucky placed first in Governor’s Cup national rankings for new and expanded industry activity per capita for second year in a row.
  • Bowling Green was ranked second on Site Selection’s Top 10 Metro Areas for New and Expanded Facilities in 2015.
  • 2016 CiCi Awards for Corporate Investment: General Motor’s $483 million in capital investment in the Corvette Assembly Plant was one of the top 15 in the nation, according to Trade & Industry Development Magazine. 

2015

  • Kentucky placed first in Governor’s Cup national rankings for new and expanded industry activity per capita.
  • Kentucky received Area Development Magazine’s 10th annual Silver Shovel award for states with populations between 3 and 5 million.
  • Chamber named Atlas Advertising’s Top Performer in 100,001-250,000 population range for Capital Investment and Conversations/Inquiries Generated.
  • Chamber received Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives’ Excellence Awards for Publication – Annual Report, Website and Member Retention.
  • Chamber received Southern Economic Development Council’s Communications Award of Merit for Motorsports in South Central Kentucky.

2014

  • Chamber among first designated as Kentucky Certified Chamber.
  • Chamber received International Economic Development Council’s Bronze Excellence in Economic Development Award for raising $1.4M to implement The Leader in Me in all elementary and middle schools.
  • Chamber received Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives’ Excellence Awards for Member Retention, Growth, Special Event, Communications.
  • Chamber CEO Ron Bunch named Kentucky Association for Economic Development’s James J. Coleman Community Professional of the Year.
  • Bowling Green ranked fourth in Site Selection Magazine’s “Top 10 Metro Areas for New and Expanded Facilities” among metro areas with populations less than 200K.
  • Bowling Green awarded International Economic Development Council’s Bronze Excellence for work on WKU Gateway to Downtown TIF project.
  • Chamber named Association of Chamber of Commerce Executive’s Chamber of the Year finalist.
  • Chamber received International Economic Development Council’s Bronze Excellence in Economic Development Award in Human Capital for The Leader in Me.

2013

  • Bowling Green ranked sixth in Site Selection Magazine’s “Top 10 Metro Areas for New and Expanded Facilities” among metro areas with populations less than 200,000
  • Southern Business Development Magazine named area one of “Top Ten Shining Examples of Economic Development Working in the South”
  • Warren County achieved Kentucky Work Ready Recertification.
  • Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development listed Bilstein North America locating to Kentucky Transpark as “Largest Capital Investment by a New Firm in 2013 in Kentucky."
  • Chamber received International Economic Development Council’s Bronze Excellence Award and Southern Economic Development Council’s Communication Award for “Business Grows Here” brochure.

2012

  • Warren County first in state to receive Work Ready Community certification.
  • South Central Kentucky Regional Development Authority received grant for Advanced Manufacturing Industry Partnership of Warren County.
  • Kentucky Transpark one of first in U.S. certified as CSX Select Site.
  • Chamber received KentuckyChamber of Commerce Executives’ Excellence Awards for Member Retention, Special Event, Communications, Website.
  • Bowling Green-Warren County Community Profile received Southern Economic Development Council’s award of merit.

2011

  • Site Selection Magazine listed Bowling Green as No. 3 for its 12 expansion and location projects in 2010.
  • Chamber received Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives’ Excellence Award for Member Retention, e-Communications.
