ATHENA Young Professional Award
Page Title
The ATHENA Young Professional Award is a natural extension of the ATHENA Award, a program that honors the local businessperson who contributes most greatly to the community and the advancement of women in the business world.
The ATHENA Young Professional Award was introduced at the ATHENA International Conference in Chicago in April 2007. The recognition piece for the ATHENA Young Professional Award is symbolic of the cut crystal prism in the ATHENA Award Sculpture representing the multifaceted qualities of their leadership.
By presenting this award for the first time in Bowling Green in March of 2008, we are acknowledging the contributions and importance of our local emerging leaders. The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce believes in the values underlying ATHENA International’s philosophy of incorporating the talent and expertise of women into the leadership of our businesses, our communities and our government.
Criteria for the ATHENA Young Professional award include that the individual:
- Is an emerging leader who demonstrates excellence
- Provides valuable service:
- To business or profession
- To the community
- Exhibits initiative and creativity
- Exemplifies and upholds the goals of the professional woman
- Clearly serves as a role model for young women personally and professionally
- Must be a partner of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce or employed by a partner
Jana Sublett, community services manager at LifeSkills, Inc., was named the inaugural ATHENA Young Professional Award winner in March 2008.
Sublett is a well-deserving recipient of the inaugural ATHENA Young Professional Award, said Jennifer Breiwa, Program Director at the Chamber. "Jana is a great contributor to the community through her role at LifeSkills and through her many volunteering efforts. She is a role model and a leader, and the Chamber is proud to honor her with this award."
The ATHENA Young Professional Award is sponsored by Martin Management Group and coordinated through the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce.
