Below are the 2010 congressional priorities for the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce and South Central Kentucky as determined by the Chamber Board of Directors and the Legislative Action Committee. - Approve legislation for the betterment of Western Kentucky University and Bowling Green Technical College for the economic benefit of Kentucky and the South Central Kentucky Region.
- Approve a Congressional appropriation to fund the planning and engineering of new development plans, sites, and infrastructure in the Kentucky Transpark.
- Approve funding authorization and appropriation for repair of the Rochester Dam on the Green River by the Corps of Engineers.
- Approve $400,000 in funding for the Corps of Engineers to study the feasibility of raising the water level of Barren River for improvement of the water supply.
- Approve free trade agreements with other nations that expand employment opportunities and markets for the South Central Kentucky Region.
- Guarantee that a worker’s fundamental right to privacy and decision to join or not join a union is made by a private secret ballot.
- Guarantee that any legislation to reduce carbon emissions strongly and effectively protects current and future employment opportunities and energy cost competitiveness of the South Central Kentucky Region
- Approve funding of a Small Community Air Service Development Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to help attract commercial air service to the Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport.
