Bowling Green, KY., October 9, 2020 – Hundreds of semi-trucks are rolling throughout the country with signs promoting “Bowling Green, Kentucky – “Voted Best Place to Live” by Time Magazine”. Bowling Green has received numerous awards for its high quality of life, being chosen for its affordability, character, safety, convenience, and the economy. Bowling Green has also been named to the Top 100 Best Places to Live in the country by Livability due to the community’s high diversity, great school system, walkability, and low cost of living.
Community leaders have welcomed the recognition. “Bowling Green is an incredible community, and our residents are proud to live here. Being recognized by Time and Livability is confirmation of what we already know - Bowling Green is truly the best place to live,” said Mayor Bruce Wilkerson.
To spread the word, local business leaders, logistic companies, the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), and the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce came together to launch an impactful initiative - the Bowling Green Best Place to Live campaign. The CVB invested in the first 500 signs and the Chamber, through the Bowling Green Area Economic Development Authority invested in the remaining 300 signs to kick off the campaign. Now, up to 800 semi-trucks will be carrying the Bowling Green message throughout the United States every day.
TAZ Trucking, headquartered in Bowling Green, KY, was the first company to proudly display the Bowling Green signs. TAZ Trucking transports goods throughout the continental 48 states and has a fleet of more than 100 trucks. Their leadership has encouraged other local trucking companies to proudly display the Bowling Green signs.
For the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, having semi-trucks display this message serves another purpose - it reminds people of the prime location and strong infrastructure assets that make Bowling Green an excellent location for trucking and distribution companies.
“Bowling Green is home to many trucking and logistics companies along with manufacturing and distribution centers. They have chosen to locate and grow here because of how easy it is to reach a very large percentage of the US population from Bowing Green,” said Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Ron Bunch.
Warren County Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon concurred, saying, “We have made a joint effort to invest in infrastructure and product to ensure that Bowling Green and Warren County can support the additional company growth. We are in the right location with an exceptional business climate to accommodate growth.”
With this campaign, companies and individuals throughout the United States will begin to see Bowling Green’s message. “We welcome inquiries from companies and individuals looking for a new home within our region,” said Bunch.
“We are excited for this campaign and appreciate the local companies who are helping spread the word how great our city is,” said Sherry Murphy, Executive Director of the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Bowling Green is an amazing destination, and our hospitality industry thrives on welcoming visitors each year. We hope this campaign also drives visitor traffic to experience Bowling Green.”
Year to date, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has closed five economic development projects, totaling $261.3 million in capital investment, and generating 226 new jobs for 2020. Bowling Green was recently recognized by Site Selection magazine as a top tier-2 metropolitan area in the United States and was selected as a “Top 100 Best Places to Live” city by Livability.
