BOWLING GREEN, KY. July 13th, 2023 – Harbor Steel & Supply Corporation, a metals distributor and manufacturer, opened its new facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky today. Founded in Michigan in 1952, the company has become a complete metal service center for its customers in six locations across the central US—and today held its grand opening in the Kentucky Transpark on its seventh location. From this new location, the company will strategically service large, multinational supply chain partners that have also announced Bowling Green as their home in recent years.
“Our project in the Transpark has been incredible. The State of Kentucky, the officials in Warren County and Bowling Green have been very supportive throughout this build. The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce has created a perfect climate for business and industry to thrive in the area. All of us at Harbor Steel appreciate the kindness and support from everyone in the area,” said Michael Weis President of Harbor Steel.
“I want to congratulate Harbor Steel & Supply on this new facility in Bowling Green,” said Gov. Beshear. “This is the company’s second location in the commonwealth, and the commitment they have shown our workforce and communities is amazing. I look forward to seeing them continue to grow and thrive here.”
The company is creating 25 new jobs through an $8 million investment in the region that was first announced in 2021. Its brand new 50,000 square foot facility in Bowling Green is expandable to 100,000 square feet in a future phase. Their new home on Commonwealth Blvd. was designed by the State of Kentucky as a Certified Build Ready Site several years ago and features direct access to the rail spur owned by the Inter-Modal Transportation Authority.
“Harbor Steel’s investment in our community is a testament to the strength of our workforce and pro-business environment,” said Warren County Judge-Executive Doug Gorman. “We are grateful for their confidence we look forward to watching them grow for years to come.”
