Leadership Bowling Green Class of 2024 Agribusiness Day

On October 16, the Leadership Bowling Green Class of 2024 traded their desks for denim, stepping into Warren County’s agricultural roots for a truly hands-on Agribusiness Day! Starting bright and early with breakfast at the Chamber of Commerce, the day unfolded with a lively “Be Proactive” session before diving into an Agribusiness panel moderated by Jamie Spinks Meredith. Panelists like Jarad Spinks, Brad Gilkey, Sarah Adams, and Joann Coles shared insights on everything from farm management to financial know-how, giving participants a close-up look at the dynamic landscape of Kentucky Agribusiness.

The class journeyed on to Wright Implement, where the latest in farm machinery left everyone in awe. Then, it was off to WKU’s Ag Research Center, where Dr. Dan Strunk led a farm tour that had everyone exploring the heart of modern agriculture. A midday stop at Chaney’s Dairy Barn, hosted by the ever-hospitable Carl Chaney, gave participants a refreshing taste of life on a dairy farm, complete with snacks, laughs, and maybe a few new favorite ice cream flavors.

Fueling the day with meals sponsored by WKU, Pinnacle Financial Partners, and Delta Dental, the group kept their energy up and spirits high, enjoying each stop along the way. From farm newbies to generational farmers, every class member left with a fresh perspective on how local Agribusiness shapes not only our community but also the food and products we rely on every day.

The day wrapped up with plenty of newfound respect for Kentucky’s Agribusiness, a few muddy shoes, and an even stronger bond among classmates. A huge thank you to our dedicated day chairs and sponsors for making this unforgettable journey into the world of agriculture possible.
