Leadership Bowling Green participants came together last week for a dynamic Economic Development & Tourism Day, where the class explored the driving forces behind Bowling Green's thriving economy and vibrant community.
The day began bright and early with a warm welcome from Justin Gearlds, Chair of the Leadership BG 2025 Class. His energizing introduction set the tone for a packed agenda, starting with a thoughtful session on Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind, led by class members. This conversation challenged participants to approach leadership with purpose and clear goals.
The morning featured insights from Meredith Rozanski, EVP of Operations at the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce. She shared how strategic economic development initiatives are creating opportunities in the region. The focus then shifted to tourism as Telia Butler, Downtown Development Coordinator for the City of Bowling Green, highlighted how tourism boosts local businesses and fosters community pride.
A highlight of the day was a tour of Ball Corporation’s facility. Guided by Poncho Verduzco (Plant Manager) and Heather Elmer (HR Manager), participants gained an up-close look at production operations and the company’s innovative contributions to the local economy. The visit emphasized the importance of teamwork, strong workforce, and product development.
At White Squirrel Brewery, the class enjoyed lunch provided by Capital Window and Door while engaging in a Small Business Panel. Moderated by Zack Dawson, the panel featured local business leaders:

- Jason Musser (Musser Automotive)
- Katie Zimmerman (Zimmerman Interiors)
The panelists shared their entrepreneurial journeys, highlighting resilience, innovation, and the support of the Bowling Green community.
The afternoon wrapped up with a tour of the Kentucky Museum, led by Dr. Christy Spurlock. Participants immersed themselves in Kentucky and Bowling Green's rich history and cultural
