Morgantown, KY., May 29, 2025 – The City of Morgantown and Butler County are proud to celebrate Aerospace Composites Solutions’ (ACS) new flagship facility in the Morgantown Industrial Park. This significant $26 million investment and the creation of 72 new high-wage jobs mark the first project in the Morgantown Industrial Park.
The new facility, strategically located off Interstate 165, represents a bold investment in both national aerospace capacity and regional economic vitality. The site will serve as ACS’s primary hub for production, innovation, and workforce development, further strengthening South Central Kentucky’s position as a critical node in the global aerospace supply chain.
“We continue to see growth in our manufacturing and aerospace industries, providing incredible job opportunities for communities across the commonwealth,” said Governor Beshear. “Aerospace Composites Solutions is a company that has invested in the Butler County community for over a decade. I am thrilled to be here today to celebrate their next step as a company and look forward to their continued success and growth here in Kentucky.”
The expansion, first announced in 2023, deepens the company’s investment in Morgantown generating an economic impact that will exceed $250 million over the next decade and will increase annual spending in the community by more than $3 million. The facility was constructed on Lot 1 of the Morgantown Industrial Park, a certified Build-Ready site—underscoring the forward-thinking collaboration between the City of Morgantown, Butler County, and the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce.
Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps remarked, “We are proud to celebrate this moment with ACS—a company that continues to invest in our people, our economy, and our future. Growth begins with our existing industries, but this new facility is a symbol of what’s possible when vision, partnership, and community come together.”
Butler County Judge Executive Tim Flener echoed the significance of this milestone:
"ACS's grand opening is a powerful example of how strategic partnerships can create real opportunities for our residents. This facility brings high-quality jobs to Butler County and reinforces that Morgantown is open for innovation, investment, and long-term growth."
The facility will also support ACS’s groundbreaking partnership with Recoil Aerospace, Inc., through which the companies are engineering next-generation aerial fire-fighting equipment and further innovations that are poised to transform global wildfire response capabilities.
“This grand opening is more than a ribbon-cutting—it’s a recommitment to American aerospace manufacturing excellence and to Morgantown’s role in that future,” said Matt Shieman, President of Aerospace Composites Solutions. “This facility embodies our vision for scalable, next-generation composites manufacturing that meets the evolving needs of defense, aviation and global aerial firefighting.”
“We are happy to be celebrating the grand opening of the new Aerospace Composites Solutions manufacturing facility and appreciate the support from all of those who came to celebrate with us. We see our investment in this new facility as an investment in the future of the local and regional community and is a symbol of commitment to the ACS vision of growing local talent and making global impact. We look forward to many successful years to come right here in Morgantown.” Bill Smrtic, Founding Partner, Aerospace Composites Solutions.
“The success we’re celebrating today is exactly why we take a regional approach to economic development. When one of our communities wins, we all win. ACS’s growth in Morgantown strengthens the aerospace and defense capabilities of the entire South Central Kentucky region.” said Ron Bunch, President, Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce.
