Energy filled the Knicely Conference Center as more than 3,400 eighth graders and 110 educators from across South Central Kentucky stepped into a world of career possibilities. For many students, it was their first chance to imagine what life after graduation could look like—and to experience it firsthand.

From coding sensors to welding beads, learning how tape is made, exploring the parts of an HVAC system, discovering how heavy a firefighter’s gear really is, and even taking a patient’s vitals, students got a real taste of the region’s thriving industries—thanks to 53 local businesses that transformed career exploration into hands-on discovery.

“Experience makes careers come alive,” said Gary Fields, Superintendent of Bowling Green Independent Schools. “Our students aren’t just hearing about jobs—they’re trying them. That exposure shapes the choices they make in high school and beyond.”

Rob Clayton, Superintendent of Warren County Public Schools, echoed that enthusiasm:
“Through the SCK LAUNCH Experience, every student—no matter their background—has the chance to explore the full spectrum of career opportunities in our region. It’s an engaging experience that connects learning to life beyond the classroom.”

Now celebrating its ninth event, SCK LAUNCH Experience continues to spark curiosity, build connections, and help students envision a future full of opportunity—right here at home.

Local businesses and educators agree, early exposure helps students make informed decisions about their high school pathways and future careers. Parents are encouraged to keep the conversation going—ask what sparked your student’s interest!

Thank you to all our partners, educators, and volunteers for helping make career dreams a reality.
