BOWLING GREEN, KY., May 11, 2026 – The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the 2027 class of Leadership Bowling Green, a premier professional development program designed to cultivate informed, engaged, and connected leaders across South Central Kentucky.
Established in 1986, Leadership Bowling Green has built a legacy of strengthening the region through leadership development. With more than 1,100 alumni+, the program continues to play a vital role in preparing individuals to actively contribute to the growth and success of Bowling Green and Warren County.
Leadership Bowling Green is an immersive, experience-based program that ignites a passion for civic engagement and community leadership. Participants explore key aspects of the community, connect with fellow leaders, and are inspired to become champions for Bowling Green.
“Leadership Bowling Green is one of the most impactful ways we invest in the future of our community,” said Meredith Wilson, Interim President and CEO, Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce. “By bringing together leaders from diverse industries and backgrounds, this program builds meaningful connections and equips participants with the knowledge and perspective needed to lead Bowling Green forward.”
Each year, a select group of participants is chosen through a competitive application process that reflects the diversity of the local business and community landscape. The program is designed for professionals with at least five years of experience and includes two retreats and seven in-depth program days focused on topics such as agri-business, economy and tourism, education and workforce, health and human services, law and justice, media and arts, and government and agency.
Participants also gain access to valuable professional development tools, including The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Gallup StrengthsFinder with a coaching session, and unique opportunities to build lasting relationships with fellow class members. A signature component of the program includes an overnight city visit within Kentucky, providing insight into how Bowling Green connects to broader regional economies.
“Leadership Bowling Green creates an environment where leaders not only learn about the community, but truly experience it,” said Sandra Baker, Vice President, Talent and Workforce Development. “The relationships built and the perspectives gained through this program often shape how participants lead in their organizations and serve in the community for years to come.”
Employers also benefit from the program, as graduates return with stronger leadership skills, expanded networks, and a deeper understanding of the community’s dynamics and opportunities.
Applications for the 2027 Leadership Bowling Green class are now open and will be accepted through June 2. Due to the program’s competitive nature, early application is encouraged. Last year, 60 applicants competed for 34 available spots.
